Cedar Granules Yard Guide
Cedar Granules Yard Guide
Use cedar granules where ticks, fleas, ants, and nuisance insects are most likely to travel: yard edges, shaded borders, fence lines, dog runs, patios, and garden paths.
Best use cases
Pets & yard
Apply around dog runs, kennels, patio edges, fence lines, and the yard spaces pets use most.
Kids & backyard play areas
Create a cedar perimeter around play zones and outdoor sitting areas as part of regular yard maintenance.
Chicken coops & barns
Use around exterior coop edges, barn entrances, and nearby high-traffic outdoor areas. Keep bedding and animal-care routines separate from perimeter yard treatment.
Garden borders
Sprinkle along garden paths, borders, fence lines, and shaded damp edges where nuisance insects travel.
Wooded yard edges
Build a visible cedar band between lawn areas and brushy or wooded borders.
How much do I need?
Start with the area you actually use: patios, dog runs, play areas, garden paths, and wooded borders. A smaller bag is good for spot treatment and testing. Larger multi-bag options make more sense for full yard-edge and seasonal refresh routines.
- 16qt: small patio, dog-run edge, or first test area.
- 32qt: multiple use zones or a modest yard-edge refresh.
- 64qt–96qt: larger perimeter work, wooded borders, trailside lots, or repeat seasonal application.
Simple application routine
- Mow and clear leaf litter or brush where possible.
- Sprinkle a visible band of cedar granules around the target edge.
- Focus on shady, damp, brushy, or high-traffic transition areas.
- Refresh after heavy rain, strong wind, or when the cedar aroma fades.
Note: Cedar granules support yard pest deterrence and habitat management. They are not a medical product and do not prevent, treat, or cure tick-borne disease.
