How it works
Rodents navigate almost entirely by scent. Peppermint and cinnamon essential oils overwhelm that sense, and the cedar carrier holds and slowly releases them, so treated areas stop reading as safe territory and mice and rats move on. It's a barrier product — it changes where rodents want to be, it doesn't trap or kill anything.
Because the granules work by scent, two things matter more than volume: put them where rodents actually travel, and refresh them before the scent fades.
How to use
- Sprinkle a 2-inch band along walls, entry points, foundations and perimeters — rodents run edges, not open ground.
- Use in enclosed and stored spaces — garages, sheds, barns, crawlspaces, RVs, boats, and around stored equipment.
- Fill a sachet for tight spots — see below.
- Reapply every 30 days, or after heavy rain. Reseal the bag after use.
The refillable sachets
Every 16 qt bag includes 6 refillable muslin sachets. They're for the places loose granules can't go:
- Engine bays, RVs, boats, tractors and stored equipment
- Cabinets, pantries, drawers and closets
- Attics, crawlspaces and wall voids
- Storage totes, feed rooms and tack rooms
To use: open the drawstring, scoop the sachet about three-quarters full straight from the bag, pull it closed, and set or hang it where you want the barrier. When the scent fades — roughly every 30 days — dump the old granules out, refill from the same bag, and put it back. The sachets are meant to be reused all season; you're only ever buying refills, not new pouches.
Coverage
| 16 qt (8 lbs) | approx. 3,500 sq. ft. |
| 32 qt | approx. 7,000 sq. ft. |
| 48 qt | approx. 10,500 sq. ft. |
| 64 qt | approx. 14,000 sq. ft. |
| 96 qt | approx. 21,000 sq. ft. |
Multipack sizes are the same 8 lb bag, boxed in multiples — so the sachets and the granules are identical at every size.
Around kids, pets and livestock
The whole formula is cedar, peppermint oil and cinnamon oil — the same things you'd find in a spice rack and a lumber mill. There's no bait and no poison, so there is nothing for a dog, cat, chicken or child to be poisoned by, and nothing that has to be swept up before the kids play.
That said, treat it like what it is — a strongly aromatic wood product:
- Not for internal use. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Anyone allergic or sensitive to cedar or essential oils should not handle this product.
- Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse with water.
- If sensitivity occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician.
Storage & disposal
Store sealed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space out of direct sunlight — the resealable bag is what keeps the oils in the granules instead of in the air. Dispose of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Spent granules are just cedar and can go in the yard-waste or compost pile.
Common questions
How long before it works? The scent barrier is active as soon as it's down. Rodents already nesting in a space take longer to relocate than rodents that are just passing through — give it a couple of weeks in an established space, and pair it with sealing up entry points.
Will rain wash it out? Outdoors, reapply after heavy rain. A light watering isn't a problem — it actually helps release the cedar oils — but a downpour moves the granules.
Can I use it indoors? Yes. Loose granules along baseboards and entry points, or sachets in cabinets, closets and crawlspaces.
Will it stain? The granules are dry milled wood, not an oil-soaked product. Sweep or vacuum them up like sawdust.
How much do I need? Perimeter work eats more than you'd think — measure the run, not the area. A 2-inch band around a 150 ft foundation is a much bigger job than a garage floor.
